Train The Trainer
The Award in Education and Training (AET) is a direct replacement for the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).
The Certify Group Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) 5 day Course – this tutor led course covers the basics of teaching in continuing and adult education, including how to plan lessons, motivate learners and use a variety of teaching methods.
It’s a first step towards official practitioner status – a full licence to teach in the lifelong learning sector. It will assist managers and supervisors who have to train all staff.
The AET has replaced the PTLLS award for new entrants to the teaching of adults – you don’t need any prior teaching experience or qualifications. It will give you the essentials skills to become a competent trainer in the work enviroment.
It also suits people working in training already who want to gain an up to date qualifications so they can become accredited trainers.
The AET Award is a mandatory minimum qualification for all those teaching in the Learning and Skills Sector and replaces the old PTLLS qualification.
There are 5 units within this course, these include:
- The roles and responsibilities of teachers in the lifelong learning sector
- Teaching and learning approaches in your specialist area
- Demonstrating session planning and delivery skills (MicroTeach session), Students are required to complete a MicroTeach session as part of the course. You will need to draw up a lesson plan and demonstrate to other learners in a 15-30 minutes session.
- Assessment and evaluation of learning
- Developing your reflective practice
The AET Level 3 is the starting point for Teachers/Trainers/Tutors in the Lifelong Learning Sector and Adult/Community Education, Trainers of personnel in commerce, industry, Beauty, public and voluntary sectors or HM Forces Technicians and Support Staff in Further and Adult Education Part time teachers in further and adult education Provided they are qualified in the subject they intend to teach by virtue of holding an appropriate professional qualification or employed in a training/teaching role.
Once the 5 day course has been completed your coursework & relevent assessment notes will be submitted to the awarding body for approval/award.
The Level 3 AET certificate will the be issued by Qualsafe Awards this will confirm the delegates ability to practice in the adult learning sector.
